Weights And Mass Properties Engineer Needed!


Applying SAWE RP No. 7 perform various types and levels of analyses, at all levels of detail and all stages of vehicle life cycle (exploratory, conceptual, development, production, and support) to ensure hardware meets all mass properties requirements

Use, develop, and modify conceptual mass properties methods and tools

Populate and maintain aircraft parts and assemblies data using GA-ASI’s proprietary database  

Function code, track, and report all parts data per SAWE RP No. 8, or similar coding systems

Establish mass properties testing requirements and implement them on actual vehicles and subsystems

Support mass properties testing of actual vehicles and subsystems, prior to and subsequent to delivery

Identify and communicate the need for and lead weight reduction and weight improvement programs

Additional duties as assigned or required


Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD.

Progressive engineering experience in the design, analysis, manufacture, and support of air vehicles

Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, theory, and practice; experience demonstrating a broad application of these concepts; and, expanding and working knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties

Must have a thorough understanding of function coding, tracking and reporting air vehicle and subsystem weight using SAWE RP No. 8, per SAWE RP No. 7, their predecessors, or similar

Must be able to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them properly throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate phased work; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance (as required), at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems

Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead teams of variously experienced professionals

Able to work extended hours as required
