Contract to hire position with a centrally located, large employer in San Diego

Production Control Specialist I:

        Modified Shift Schedule: Friday/Saturday/Sunday 6am – 6pm.

Looking for a PC Specialist I to plan, schedule, coordinate and track the flow of hardware and material throughout the manufacturing process, including fabrication, assembly, test and shipment; position controls jobs of lower level complexity, shorter turn-around times and single programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

  1. Ensures that all materials, supplies, and equipment received for production are processed and distributed in a timely manner to the production department.
  2. Generates schedules, travelers, flow sheets and other tools for tracking Work In Progress (WIP); generates WIP Master report regarding status of hardware; generates work orders using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  3. Maintains configuration and serial control of production hardware.
  4. Ensures the generation of pick lists, Total Quality Assurance 27 procedure (TQA 27) and other shipping documents as required.
  5. Flag production problems and coordinate resolution through appropriate support and management personnel.
  6. Writes rework instructions for kit splits and routing changes;
  7. Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.
  8. Improve and maintain 5S in your area; make suggestions for improvements.
  9. Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work area as well as events for other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving.
  10. Collaborate in team meetings and activities, including SET team support as appropriate.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)

  1. Two (2) years of materials related experience within a manufacturing environment specific to production control, preferred; High School Diploma, required; Associate’s degree, a plus;
  2. Communication skills: ability to receive messages by telephone, in person, electronically and in writing; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read, interpret and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions as well as technical publications; communicate across organizational levels; ability to communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities;
  3. Computer skills:  working in a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Power Point, Excel and Word software programs; ability to use computer-aided design software suites;
  4. Math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  5. Analytical skills: review and compare data to identify inconsistencies and determine priorities;
  6. Time Management and organizational skills: flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality;
  7.
