Job Title: Structural Analysis Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA

Job Description

The chosen candidate will assess structural integrity of metallic and composite structures using traditional closed form solutions, as well as finite element analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

    \\t
  • Interact with design and development teams (including specialists in design, quality, materials, manufacturing) to create and verify creative e design solutions that meet all requirements.\\t
  • Generate Finite Element Models and perform FEA for normal modes, linear static stress, dynamic response/stress, thermo-elastic distortion, and hygroscopic distortion\\t
  • Support development of flight hardware from preliminary through detailed design, drawing release, manufacturing, integration, verification testing, and transportation\\t
  • Plan and oversee material characterization tests of various materials used in the design of composite structures\\t
  • Reduce material characterization test data into analysis input properties and material capability properties\\t
  • Prepare and make presentations summarizing structural assessment results for internal review boards and external customer design reviews\\t
  • Assist in assessment and disposition of discrepant hardware and hardware anomalies
    \\t

    Professional Experience/Qualifications:

      \\t
    • Proficiency in structural analysis of aerospace structures containing metals, sandwich panels, composite materials, plastics and bonded joints\\t
    • Minimum 7 years work experience in related field, some work experience may be substituted for higher education\\t
    • Proficiency in finite element analysis, composite laminate theory and dynamics\\t
    • Femap and NX Nastran proficiency required\\t
    • Knowledge of composite materials manufacturing processes\\t
    • Proficient in Altair Hyperworks, NX, Matlab, and Visual Basic preferred\\t
    • Constitutive model development and implementation experience\\t
    • Previous aerospace manufacturing experience\\t
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information


      EDUCATION
      BS in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline required. MS in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field preferred.
