Maintenance Technician III

1st Shift 07:00-15:30

Contract to hire position with a quality company in centrally located San Diego area

Maintenance Technician III who maintains and repairs the facility’s structure, equipment and grounds, including plumbing, electrical and HVAC; performs highly complex skilled trade work, such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures; works with manufacturing or process engineering in the installation or repairs as required; make periodic and special inspections of the premise to determine repair work when necessary; work from blueprints, drawings and rough sketches.


1.    Perform highly complex semi-skilled repairs to building fixtures, electrical fixtures, plumbing fixtures and perform touch up painting when necessary.

2.    Perform repairs on fleet vehicles; ensure vehicle maintenance records are up to date.

3.    Provide maintenance on manufacturing equipment as necessary.

4.    Perform chemical change-out and replenishment for manufacturing areas; fulfill maintenance requests.

5.    Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.

6.    Improve and maintain 5S in your area; make suggestions for improvements.

7.    Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work area as well as events for other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving.

8.    Collaborate in team meetings and activities, including SET team support as appropriate.

9.    Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted or as appropriate.)

1.    Five (5)  years of related maintenance technician experience, including carpentry, plumbing  electrical, and HVAC systems, experience performing complex repairs, preferred and must have journeyman level experience in three (3) of the building trades; high school or general education, a plus;

2.    Communication skills: ability to receive messages by telephone or in person; ask questions and rephrase statements to clarify meaning; ability to read, interpret and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to communicate with quality, integrity and respect in a way that inspires others and encourages innovation and possibilities; proficient  English reading level to understand terminology used on the job and within the organization;

3.    Computer skills: ability to work in a network environment, using Microsoft Suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point;

4.    Math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; 

5.    Equipment skills: Intermediate knowledge of machines and tools including their design, uses, repair and maintenance; ability to use hand tools such as hammer and screw driver wrench; good eye-to-hand coordination.

6.    Time Management and Organizational skills: flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and assignments; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to cope with rapidly changing priorities; ability to prioritize workload on a daily basis;
