Volt has an Electrical Engineer position with our client in the Instrumentation industry. This is a contract to hire opportunity.  

Responsibilities

1.            Research, plan, design and develop electrical products and PCBs related to automated machinery.  This role will take ownership of the electrical aspects for new and existing products.

2.            Develop electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs.

3.            Applying engineering and scientific principles in the design and execution of development projects.

4.            Ensure product performance and reliability through validation and verification programs.

5.            Assist manufacturing and marketing team members as necessary to facilitate the manufacture and introduction of the developed product.

6.            Interact with suppliers, customers, distributors and sales staff on an occasional basis.

7.            Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.

8.            Work with electronics technicians to resolve production issues and develop new designs.

9.            Work with weld technicians to validate new designs and support product in the field.

10.          Communicate with engineers and staff in other facilities for their PCB manufacturing and engineering support.

Qualifications

1.            Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering or related discipline, with at least five years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.  Industrial experience is a plus.

2.            Possess and apply a broad knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures.

3.            Demonstrated experience designing digital embedded systems, control systems, analog circuit design, and some types of power supplies.  Experience with Texas Instruments ARM is a plus.

4.            Experience creating schematics and emphasis using Mentor Graphics Tools, especially DxDesigner.  Expedition experience is a plus.  Ability for occasional use of Altium Designer tool is a plus but not required.

5.            Experience with Omnify is a plus.

6.            Electrical analysis and simulation software familiarity.

7.            Familiar with design practices for compliance with UL, CSA, CE, or other agencies.

8.            Ability to work independently and in small teams within various engineering disciplines, and facilitate closely for the mechanical and software design phases.

9.            Ability to work closely with mechanical engineers to integrate electronics into mechanical assemblies is a plus.
