They are a supplier of advanced electromagnetic systems, related power equipment and other high technology products for a variety of government and commercial applications. These include products such as the design and fabrication of linear motors, superconducting and conventional rotating motors, power inverters, high-energy capacitors, radiation monitoring systems, high-voltage direct current power distribution systems, and numerous other products.
\\t\\t\\tWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Development Director to lead and win new business pursuits across our business portfolio in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

  • Oversee the phases of business development activities to ensure business and financial objectives are attained within the defense and aerospace industries.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Responsible for understanding DOD/NASA customer organizations, budgets, near, mid-term and long-term opportunities.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Coordinate the development of new strategic business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities. May consult with management in pursuing business partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that enhance the capabilities of the organization.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Identify markets, licensing opportunities, and determine the feasibility of product development.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Assess potential business opportunities through activities such as market and economic analysis, monitoring competitive activity and identifying customer needs.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Manage the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Consult with executive management to develop and implement current, annual and long-term schedule, quality, business, and financial objectives for the unit(s) and participate in the development of Group/Company objectives.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Act as the primary contact for business development activities. May lead progress review sessions to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance and to disseminate information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Manage the development of and adherence to master plan(s), milestones, and schedules for the organization.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Identify business development issues and provide leadership in developing solutions such as re-allocation of resources or modifying contract specifications.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Ensure business leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required management, professional, and technical talent.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.\\t\\t\\t\\t
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    *Job Qualifications\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t\\t


    • Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in business administration or a related field and thirteen or more years of progressively complex experience in business development with at least seven years managing business development activities. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. Must have experience with science and technology programs.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Must have prior experience identifying customer's developmental road maps including mapping and capturing customer support along with funding.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Desire prior experience with Army SMDC (Space and Missile Defense Command) or Air Force SMC (Space and Missile Center).\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Must have prior experience within the space and satellite industry. Small satellites is preferred.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Experience, knowledge and understanding of RDT&E (Research Development Test and Evaluation) programs, funding, budgets and organizations. Desire experience across Missiles and Weapons; Space; and Security and Surveillance Sensors markets.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Must demonstrate a detailed and extensive expertise and application of business development principles and concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex problems; serve as spokesperson on projects; and be an expert in one or more areas of business development. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.\\t\\t\\t\\t
    • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.\\t\\t\\t
