Job Overview
The successful candidate will become part of the QCAE (Qualcomm's Computer Aided Engineering Group), responsible for providing process automation, design services, methodology support, project consulting, and training for Qualcomm's substantial EDA tool portfolio. The candidate will work in a lead role and provide EDA tool expertise and automation guidance for multiple engineers. The candidate is expected to have full proficiency on various design tools that QCAE supports. It is expected that the candidate will be an expert across various EDA tools with multiple years of experiences utilizing them for design and/or simulation activities. The candidate is expected to support needs across multiple geographic regions. Working effectively across organizational boundaries is essential, as is the effective documentation and presentation of results.


Along with the technical duties, the candidate is expected to manage activities and professional development of subordinate employees. Expected to play an active role on monthly department management meetings on staffing needs, project activities and cross-functional engagement with other groups. The candidate will interface with internal staff and outside partners in the fast-paced execution of a variety of multi-disciplined projects.


Candidate will support the following design flows:


Printed Circuit Boards


- Commercial schematic and board design flows


- QCAE supports tools such as Mentor Xpedition, Pads, Cadence Allegro, SiP, Downstream


RF/SI


- Commercial and custom tools to support RF Engineers and Signal Integrity engineers.


- QCAE support includes tools from Keysight, Ansys, Sigrity, CST, AWR


FPGA


- Commercial tools and custom tools to support FPGA design entry, simulation, and synthesis


- QCAE supports tools from Mentor, Cadence, Synopsys, Xilinx, Altera,


Systems


- Commercial and custom tools to support System Engineers


- QCAE supports tools from Mathworks, MathCAD, Wolfram Research, National Instruments
Minimum Qualifications
* 7+ years actively involved in supporting electrical engineering design and simulation tools

* 7+ years of experience working hands-on with FPGA and system tools like MATLAB

* 3+ years of leading multiple team members to support EDA flows

* Coding experience with Python and/or Java, shell and/or perl programming experience, Linux operating systems and environment. Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Demonstrated leadership skills on leading support and automation teams for EDA tools.


* Distills requirements and translates them into project tasks, schedules, and staffing needs.


* Effectively delegates tasks to other team members, multitasks and meets aggressive schedules in a dynamic environment.


* Setting up working detailed schedules and planned execution of deliverables for all projects and tasks


* Exposure to usage, support needs for tools such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus


* Demonstrated expertise on any design and simulation tools such as Mentor Xpedition, Cadence Allegro, ADS, Ansoft HFSS


* Previous experience to create custom scripts or parsers that augment board design, simulation, FPGA tools


* Strong problem solving/ debugging skills.


* Effectively communicates with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail, web meetings, and instant messaging including status reports and illustrative presentation slides.


* Leadership skills to help direct, prioritize, and clearly set project tasks per schedule. Communicate milestones and directions to outside team members.


* Takes responsibility for the success of entire project


* Makes critical project decisions.


* Effectively communicates with management at various levels.


* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills


* Finds holes outside defined responsibility and fills them.


* Anticipates, identifies, and mitigates potentially significant issues before they become major problems.


* Self-motivated and requires minimal supervision.

Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
