Job Overview
The focus of the Senior Accountant is to perform specialized General Accounting, General Ledger and Tax activities for all of Qualcomms Asia Pacific countries / entities which comprise the following: Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. This specialized role is on a broader team that will involve working closely with all of Qualcomms accounting teams in the other global locations: the hub in India and headquarters in San Diego. This role will work closely with country finance / accounting leadership in each of the respective countries, work with the hub to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements, and lastly, work with the Global Process Owners to ensure a well-managed global process.


The primary focus of the role is to:


Validate and sign off on month-end accounts as prepared by the hub in accordance with US GAAP


Generate local GAAP statutory accounts to comply with local reporting obligations including filing of local accounts and managing statutory audits


Support local corporate tax compliance, accounting and reporting (includes corporation tax, VAT, accounting for payroll taxes, import/export compliance)


Be the key point of contact for accounting / finance related matters within a country


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Monthly Accounting Close Review and Sign-Off


Perform a pre-close review of the monthly accounts as prepared under US GAAP by the hub in India. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the reported results by reviewing and signing off on the:


oMonthly management accounts


oMonthly balance sheet (ARM) reconciliations including Intercompany reconciliations and quarterly balance sheet reviews


oFunding wire requests


oQuarterly Reporting Schedules


oConsolidated financial results


The reviews will act as a valuable control to confirm the successful transfer of information and processes or to identify any errors in process as well as areas for improvement. This accountant will provide ongoing support to the hub to ensure that the transition of the accounting activities has been successful, and will support, assist and answer any necessary queries.


2. Local Statutory Accounts and Tax Reporting


This role will perform the following activities for all countries within the APAC region:


Prepare internal financial as well as regulatory statutory financial reports


Ensure that local legal entity statutory accounts are prepared in accordance with local GAAP and that they are filed on time to the appropriate authorities


Ensure that all local VAT and Corporate Income Tax reporting, compliance, tax payments and tax return obligations are met on time


Work with local service providers and San Diego tax team on any tax enquiries, disputes, submission of returns, payments on account or tax refunds


3. Country Finance / Accounting Coordination


Establish relationships with key local stakeholders in designated country


Understand the business conducted in the country, staying up-to-date with the latest business developments, laws, and policies


Be the initial in country go to person for any employee in outside functions as well as any person for any Legal Entity related finance queries


4. Process Improvement


Work with Global Process Owners in headquarters and with hub teams to identify, plan and implement accounting process improvements


Manage ad-hoc special projects (including M&A)


Provide recommendations on overall improvements in the general ledger system by researching and assessing standardized work flow procedures and policies
Minimum Qualifications
7-10 years of applicable Finance & Accounting experience in general accounting / general ledger

Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in working for a multinational corporation (preferred)


Oracle Finance, HFM, and TM1 experience (preferred)


CPA- AICPA or KICPA (preferred)


Strong communication skills


Ability to establish and maintain relationships with leadership as well as global stakeholders


Ability to manage workload as well as indirectly managing Qualcomm resources in remote locations


Understanding that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies (e.g. SEC requirements, US GAAP and / or IFRS)


Excellent processing and transactional skills with an eye for detail and accuracy


Strong organizational skills with ability to work on projects simultaneously


Ability to collaborate extensively with external accounting service providers and auditors


Advanced knowledge of general accounting / general ledger concepts and applications


Proficient knowledge in basic application programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education Requirements
Bachelors degree in Finance / Accounting
